Blessing Box Mission
Blessing Box Mission: On a mission to help the homeless, through gifts of time and necessities.
Join Calvary in our support. Monetary donations can now be written directly to Blessing Box Mission and checks can be given to Nathan Payton or dropped in the offering plate.
ITEMS NEEDED FOR THE BLESSING BOXES: sanitary napkins, mini shampoos, razors, deodorant, toothbrush kits, handwarmers, socks, hats & gloves, more.

Director of Family, Youth, and Children’s Ministry
Welcome, Wanda Swan!
Wanda Swan studied at Liberty University with a concentration in Youth Pastoral Ministries. She went on to lead a vibrant youth group at Liberty Covenant Church in Micaville, NC under Pastor Frank Wyatt. She was instrumental in founding the coalition of youth ministers in Yancey County NC; a group that used their combined resources to reach the youth of Yancey and Mitchell Counties through many corporate events such as a walkthrough Live Nativity on the square, Banana-rama, a youth retreat/outreach, Friday Night Youth Thang with hotdogs, loud Christian music with lively worship and guest speakers, March for Jesus, the 30 hour famine and many other outreaches. She served for 5 years as member of Epiphany Ministries, a prison ministry outreach in NC that went into the medium and maximum security prisons to present the Gospel through skits, speakers, biblical teachings, and mentorship. She is the mother of 5 adult children, grandmother of 5, and wife of Jeff Swan for 30 years.
Sharing Hands Soup Kitchen
CUMC's Sharing Hands Soup Kitchen is open every Saturday, except the 4th Saturday of the month @ Calvary UMC (220 W. Burke St.)
For a free meal, come to the single side door on Maple Avenue between noon and 1 PM.
These free meals resume on Saturday, September 4, 2021.
Staff/volunteers needed, (individuals or groups) to provide and serve these meals. Contact the church office to volunteer or for more information, 304.267.4542.
Those volunteering will decide if they will pass out meal bags at the Maple Avenue door or if they prefer to serve inside the Fellowship Hall. Access will be at the same door on Maple Avenue each week to provide continuity.

- FAITH FEEDING FREEDOM--Calvary's FFF bagging is the first Friday of each month @ 10 AM in the Calvary UMC kitchen
- SOUND & VIDEO TECH SPONSORS NEEDED--Jillian Albright is being trained as our sound & video technician to work the new system that was recently installed. We will be asking for sponsors to pay her $30 a week. If you would like to sponsor a week please call the church office at 304-267-4542 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. You can make checks payable to Calvary UMC and write S&V Tech Sponsor on memo line.
- CALVARY PRAYER WALKS--We will be walking the 4th Thursday of every month. At 6:00pm, all are invited to come and gather in the parking lot of Calvary Church for the next prayer walk. If there is a large number of walkers gathering, we will split up and walk the city in different directions. Those who cannot physically walk are invited gather in the courtyard of Calvary Church and pray for the city until the walkers return. If you are unable to attend, please stop where you are and pray for the city for 45 minutes to an hour. Join us as you are able.
