Meet Our Pastor
Pastor Lynn Wilson’s goal is to honor and glorify God as she serves God’s people in the places she is called to serve.
She grew up in a small mountain community called Chestnut Hill which is located across the river and up the mountain from Harpers Ferry, WV. She was born into the Chestnut Hill United Methodist church where she was an active member of the Sunday School and Youth Group. At the age of 15 she was asked to be the youth representative to the Administrative Council and this is where she started her life’s journey of working in the church. For several years after high school graduation she walked away from the calling of God on her life. She considers coming back to God’s calling and to the church as the most important event in her life. As an adult she held the positions of Youth Group Leader, Coordinator of Youth, Senior High Sunday School teacher, Director of Christmas Programs, Lay Leader and Lay Member to the Baltimore Washington Conference.
Lynn and her husband Bill were married in 1974. They are both lifelong residents of Jefferson County, WV. Bill is retired and volunteers as a part-time pastor for a small independent Baptist church. They are the proud parents of 3 children: Tai, Lea and Matthew, and equally proud grandparents of eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Before answering God’s call to serve in ministry, Lynn’s life experience taught her much about loving and caring for others. Various employments include waitressing, tour guide, nursing assistant in an elder care facility, preschool teacher and director and an administrative assistant in INOVA Loudon Hospital.
Lynn is a licensed Local Pastor in the Baltimore Washington Conference and completed her Course of Study requirements at Wesley Seminary, DC in 2014. Lynn has been an active member in a variety of positions on the Frederick District over the last 20 years. She currently serves as the Baltimore Washington Conference local pastor representative to the National Fellowship of Associate Members and Local Pastors Association, a member of the Frederick District Committee on Ordained Ministry, a member of the Frederick District Superintendency Committee, a member of the Board of Directors at C-Cap in Martinsburg, WV. and the Director of Pastoral Care and Church Relations on the Board of Directors for the Blessing Box Mission.
Lynn was appointed to serve Calvary UMC in Martinsburg, WV as a fulltime local pastor in 2016. Prior to Calvary, Lynn served Flint Hill UMC in Adamstown, Md for just over a year and Trinity UMC as the Associate pastor for ten years. While serving at Trinity she also filled the half time position of Youth Director for approximately one year.
Lynn has many “favorite” Bible verses one of which is from 1 Timothy 6:6 “There is great gain in godliness combined with contentment”. Being content in the Lord is what makes her smile.
